LOS MARCIN (Phage Consultants)
Phage infections in bioprocesses threaten to be very destructive to company’s productivity. Based on our extensive research, we propose various ways of assistance: from personnel training, through consulting and process optimization with respect to phage growth limitation, to assistance in developing new facilities. All scientists involved in Phage Consultants activities are experts in the field of bacteriophage biology with special emphasis on bacteriophages in bioprocesses.
Based on our broad experience, we now also offer assistance in eradication and prevention of other types of contaminations in all types of bioprocesses.
Due to frequent inquiries, we introduced a contract research service in all aspects of bacteriophage use in various fields of biotechnology, medicine, food and crop protection etc. Our extensive expertise in phage biology research helps us deliver high quality results in relatively short time and at competitive prices.
We also offer contract phage manufacturing and phage purification services.

Key personnel
PhD. Joanna Los
The senior researcher of Phage Consultants, a researcher with 15 years of experience with work in molecular biology of bacteriophages. A leader of several research projects. she completed her PhD in prophage induction and development in E. coli. This, and her long-lasting involvement in activities of Phage Consultants resulted in development of the skills of work with phages of very different bacterial hosts including psychrofiles, strict anaerobes and bacterial pathogens.
PhD Marcin Przemyslaw Los – Technical Manager
PhD Marcin Przemyslaw Los (PHAGE CONS) studied at University of Gdansk, and the Medical University of Gdansk Poland, in 1995, and earned his MSc in 1999. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biology at the University of Gdansk in 2004 and a DSc degree in 2011 on the basis of study on phage development and detection. He was employed as an assistant professor at the University of Gdansk since 2005. He currently (since 2011) holds the position of associate professor at the University of Gdansk and he held (2009-2015) the position of adjunct professor at the Institute of Physical Chemistry in Warsaw.
Marcin counts with 17 years of experience in molecular biology of bacteriophages and during this time he has led several research projects and published over 60 scientific papers. He will lead the technical and engineering management of the project, control the associated Deliverables. He will act as Risk Manager, implementing a risk contingency and mitigation plan to meet the technical objectives.
PhD. Sylwia Zielinska
Junior researcher in Phage Consultant. She completed her PhD in 2017 in the topic of environmental microbiome study including study of gut microflora of isolated population of reindeer. She is now involved in optimization of production of phages for psychrofilic bacteria.
