The Phagovet Project
Phagovet is a research project supported by the European-union in the ambit of Horizon 2020. With the goal to develop a cost-effective solution for controlling Salmonella and Escherichia coli in poultry production.
PHAGOVET innovative solution is based on patented technology and proprietary processes combined with years of lab research and experience in the microbiology field, the PHAGOVET consortium partners will produce the first variety of bacteriophage-based products for the effective control of both E. coli and Salmonella in poultry farms.

Activities
Optimization and production of PHAGOVET is structured into 6 interrelated scientific WPs. These WPs range from the optimization of the PHAGOVET products to the production and encapsulation, assessment of product efficacy, safety and quality, regulatory pathways and product registration and finally dissemination of the products.
The successful market launch of PHAGOVET will enable members of the Consortium to consolidate their position in the Animal Health, Food Safety and Environmental Control markets and commercialize the product worldwide, reaching €17.76M profit at the end of 2026.
